April 19, Thursday
West Seattle Chamber hosts open discussion on Head Tax with Councilmembers Herbold and Gonzalez.
The 2018 WS Chamber Membership Survey made it clear that members requested a meeting with their District's Councilmember Herbold on a revenue proposal known as the Employee Hours' Tax (EHT).
Councilmember Herbold has agreed to talk with the membership on April 19th, Thursday from 8am - 9am and Councilmember Gonzalez has agreed to join her. The agenda includes 20 minutes for the Councilmembers to speak and then the floor will be open for Q&A.
It is with great pride that we live in a community where businesses and Councilmembers can sit and discuss business tax proposals, the ramifications of the legislature and its implementation. The respect we show each other is the basis for our ability to work successfully together.
We are all in agreement the community has people with issues that results in homelessness. However, this meeting is focused on the proposal for providing revenue, specifically the EHT.
For background, documents on seattle.gov are provided. The following links highlight some of the basic information on the EHT.
